| 1 | Puis le Roi David dit à toute l'assemblée: Dieu a choisi un seul de mes fils, savoir Salomon, qui est encore jeune et délicat, et l'ouvrage est grand; car ce palais n'est point pour un homme, mais pour l'Eternel Dieu. | And David the king said unto all the assembly, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great; for the palace is not for man, but for Jehovah God. |
| 2 | Et moi, j'ai préparé de toutes mes forces pour la maison de mon Dieu, de l'or pour les choses qui doivent être d'or, de l'argent pour celles qui doivent être d'argent; de l'airain pour celles d'airain, du fer pour celles de fer, du bois pour celles de bois, des pierres d'onyx, et des pierres pour être enchâssées, des pierres d'escarboucle, et des pierres de diverses couleurs; des pierres précieuses de toutes sortes, et du marbre en abondance. | Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for the [things of] gold, and the silver for the [things of] silver, and the brass for the [things of] brass, the iron for the [things of] iron, and wood for the [things of] wood; onyx stones, and [stones] to be set, stones for inlaid work, and of divers colors, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. |
| 3 | Et outre cela, parce que j'ai une grande affection pour la maison de mon Dieu, je donne pour la maison de mon Dieu, outre toutes les choses que j'ai préparées pour la maison du Sanctuaire, l'or et l'argent que j'ai entre mes plus précieux joyaux; | Moreover also, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, seeing that I have a treasure of mine own of gold and silver, I give it unto the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, |
| 4 | Savoir, trois mille talents d'or, de l'or d'Ophir, et sept mille talents d'argent affiné, pour revêtir les murailles de la maison. | even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, wherewith to overlay the walls of the houses; |
| 5 | Afin qu'il y ait de l'or partout où il faut de l'or, et de l'argent partout où il faut de l'argent; et pour tout l'ouvrage qui se fera par main d'ouvriers. Or qui est celui d'entre vous qui se disposera volontairement à offrir aujourd'hui libéralement à l'Eternel? | of gold for the [things of] gold, and of silver for the [things of] silver, and for all manner of work [to be made] by the hands of artificers. Who then offereth willingly to consecrate himself this day unto Jehovah? |
| 6 | Alors les Chefs des pères, et les Chefs des Tribus d'Israël, et les Gouverneurs de milliers et de centaines, et ceux qui avaient la charge des affaires du Roi offrirent volontairement. | Then the princes of the fathers` [houses], and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king`s work, offered willingly; |
| 7 | Et ils donnèrent pour le service de la maison de Dieu cinq mille talents et dix mille drachmes d'or, dix mille talents d'argent, dix-huit mille talents d'airain, et cent mille talents de fer. | and they gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand darics, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and of iron a hundred thousand talents. |
| 8 | Ils mirent aussi les pierreries que chacun avait, au trésor de la maison de l'Eternel, entre les mains de Jéhiël Guersonite. | And they with whom [precious] stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of Jehovah, under the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. |
| 9 | Et le peuple offrait avec joie volontairement; car ils offraient de tout leur coeur leurs offrandes volontaires à l'Eternel; et David en eut une fort grande joie. | Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to Jehovah: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. |
| 10 | Puis David bénit l'Eternel en la présence de toute l'assemblée, et dit: Ô Eternel Dieu d'Israël notre père! tu es béni de tout temps et à toujours. | Wherefore David blessed Jehovah before all the assembly; and David said, Blessed be thou, O Jehovah, the God of Israel our father, for ever and ever. |
| 11 | Ô Eternel! c'est à toi qu'appartient la magnificence, la puissance, la gloire, l'éternité, et la majesté; car tout ce qui est aux cieux et en la terre est à toi; ô Eternel! le Royaume est à toi, et tu es le Prince de toutes choses. | Thine, O Jehovah, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heavens and in the earth [is thine]; thine is the kingdom, O Jehovah, and thou art exalted as head above all. |
| 12 | Les richesses et les honneurs viennent de toi, et tu as la domination sur toutes choses; la force et la puissance est en ta main, et il est aussi en ta main d'agrandir et de fortifier toutes choses. | Both riches and honor come of thee, and thou rulest over all; and in thy hand is power and might; and in thy hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. |
| 13 | Maintenant donc, ô notre Dieu! nous te célébrons, et nous louons ton Nom glorieux. | Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. |
| 14 | Mais qui suis-je, et qui est mon peuple, que nous ayons assez de pouvoir pour offrir ces choses volontairement? car toutes choses viennent de toi, et les ayant reçues de ta main, nous te les présentons. | But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. |
| 15 | Et même nous sommes étrangers et forains chez toi, comme ont été tous nos pères; et nos jours sont comme l'ombre sur la terre, et il n'y a nulle espérance. | For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as all our fathers were: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no abiding. |
| 16 | Eternel notre Dieu! toute cette abondance, que nous avons préparée pour bâtir une maison à ton saint Nom, est de ta main, et toutes ces choses sont à toi. | O Jehovah our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee a house for thy holy name cometh of thy hand, and is all thine own. |
| 17 | Et je sais, ô mon Dieu! que c'est toi qui sondes les coeurs, et que tu prends plaisir à la droiture; c'est pourquoi j'ai volontairement offert d'un coeur droit toutes ces choses, et j'ai vu maintenant avec joie que ton peuple, qui s'est trouvé ici, t'a fait son offrande volontairement. | I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, that are present here, offer willingly unto thee. |
| 18 | Ô Eternel! Dieu d'Abraham, d'Isaac, et d'Israël nos pères, entretiens ceci à toujours, savoir l'inclination des pensées du coeur de ton peuple, et tourne leurs coeurs vers toi. | O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee; |
| 19 | Donne aussi un coeur droit à Salomon mon fils, afin qu'il garde tes commandements, tes témoignages, et tes statuts, et qu'il fasse tout ce qui est nécessaire et qu'il bâtisse le palais que j'ai préparé. | and give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision. |
| 20 | Après cela David dit à toute l'assemblée: Bénissez maintenant l'Eternel votre Dieu. Et toute l'assemblée bénit l'Eternel, le Dieu de leurs pères, et s'inclinant, ils se prosternèrent devant l'Eternel, et devant le Roi. | And David said to all the assembly, Now bless Jehovah your God. And all the assembly blessed Jehovah, the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped Jehovah, and the king. |
| 21 | Et le lendemain ils sacrifièrent des sacrifices à l'Eternel, et lui offrirent des holocaustes, savoir mille veaux, mille moutons, et mille agneaux, avec leurs aspersions; et des sacrifices en grand nombre pour tous ceux d'Israël. | And they sacrificed sacrifices unto Jehovah, and offered burnt-offerings unto Jehovah, on the morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink-offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel, |
| 22 | Et ils mangèrent et burent ce jour-là devant l'Eternel avec une grande joie; et ils établirent Roi pour la seconde fois Salomon fils de David, et l'oignirent en l'honneur de l'Eternel pour être leur Conducteur, et Tsadoc pour Sacrificateur. | and did eat and drink before Jehovah on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto Jehovah to be prince, and Zadok to be priest. |
| 23 | Salomon donc s'assit sur le trône de l'Eternel pour être Roi en la place de David son père, et il prospéra; car tout Israël lui obéit. | Then Solomon sat on the throne of Jehovah as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him. |
| 24 | Et tous les principaux et les puissants, et même tous les fils du Roi David consentirent d'être les sujets du Roi Salomon. | And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king. |
| 25 | Ainsi l'Eternel éleva souverainement Salomon, à la vue de tout Israël; et lui donna une majesté Royale, telle qu'aucun Roi avant lui n'en avait eue en Israël. | And Jehovah magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel. |
| 26 | David donc fils d'Isaï régna sur tout Israël. | Now David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. |
| 27 | Et les jours qu'il régna sur Israël furent quarante ans; il régna sept ans à Hébron, et trente-trois ans à Jérusalem. | And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three [years] reigned he in Jerusalem. |
| 28 | Puis il mourut en bonne vieillesse, rassasié de jours, de richesses, et de gloire; et Salomon son fils régna en sa place. | And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead. |
| 29 | Or quant aux faits du Roi David, tant les premiers que les derniers, voilà, ils sont écrits au Livre de Samuël le Voyant, et aux Livres de Nathan le Prophète, et aux Livres de Gad le Voyant, | Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Samuel the seer, and in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the history of Gad the seer, |
| 30 | Avec tout son règne, et sa force, et les temps qui passèrent sur lui, et sur Israël, et sur tous les Royaumes des pays. | with all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries. |
