| 3 | And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel? | Mais Joab répondit: Que l'Éternel veuille augmenter son peuple cent fois autant qu'il est! O roi mon seigneur, ne sont-ils pas tous serviteurs de mon seigneur? Pourquoi mon seigneur cherche-t-il cela? | 4 | Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. | 10 | Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee. | Va, parle à David, et dis-lui: Ainsi a dit l'Éternel: J'ai trois choses à te proposer; choisis l'une d'elles, afin que je te la fasse. | Va' a dire a Davide: "Così dice l'Eterno: lo ti propongo tre cose: scegliti una di queste, e io la eseguirò per te". |
| 11 | So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee | Gad vint donc vers David, et lui dit: Ainsi a dit l'Éternel: | Gad andò da Davide e gli disse: Così dice l'Eterno: Scegliti |
| 12 | Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me. | Accepte, ou trois années de famine, ou trois mois de défaites devant tes adversaires, atteint par l'épée de tes ennemis, ou pendant trois jours l'épée de l'Éternel et la peste dans le pays, et l'ange de l'Éternel exerçant la destruction dans tout le territoire d'Israël. Vois maintenant ce que je dois répondre à celui qui m'envoie. | o tre anni di carestia, oppure tre mesi di distruzione davanti ai tuoi avversari, durante i quali la spada dei tuoi nemici ti raggiungerà, oppure tre giorni di spada dell'Eterno, ossia la peste nel paese, durante i quali l'angelo, dell'Eterno porterà la distruzione in tutto il territorio d'Israele. Ora fammi sapere la risposta che devo riferire a colui che mi ha mandato. |
| 13 | And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man. | Et David répondit à Gad: Je suis dans une grande angoisse. Que je tombe, je te prie, entre les mains de l'Éternel; car ses compassions sont en très grand nombre; et que je ne tombe pas entre les mains des hommes! | Davide disse a Gad: Io sono in una grande angoscia! Deh, che io cada nelle mani dell'Eterno, perché le sue compassioni sono grandissime, ma che non cada nelle mani degli uomini!. L'erezione dell'altare e l'offerta dei sacrifici da parte di Davide pone fine alla calamità |
| 14 | So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men. | Alors l'Éternel envoya la peste sur Israël, et il tomba soixante et dix mille hommes d'Israël. | Così l'Eterno mandò la peste in Israele, e morirono settantamila Israeliti. |
| 15 | And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. | Dieu envoya aussi un ange à Jérusalem pour la ravager. Et comme il ravageait, l'Éternel regarda, et se repentit de ce mal, et il dit à l'ange qui ravageait: Assez! Retire maintenant ta main. | 16 | And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces. | Et David leva les yeux et vit l'ange de l'Éternel se tenant entre la terre et le ciel, ayant en sa main son épée nue étendue sur Jérusalem. Et David et les anciens, couverts de sacs, tombèrent sur leurs faces. | Davide, alzati gli occhi, vide l'angelo dell'Eterno che stava fra terra e cielo con in mano una spada sguainata, tesa sopra Gerusalemme. Allora Davide e gli anziani, vestiti di sacco, caddero con la faccia a terra. |
| 17 | And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued. | Et David dit à Dieu: N'est-ce pas moi qui ai commandé qu'on fît le dénombrement du peuple? C'est moi qui ai péché et qui ai très mal agi; mais ces brebis, qu'ont-elles fait? Éternel, mon Dieu! que ta main soit sur moi, je te prie, et sur la maison de mon père, mais qu'elle ne soit pas sur ton peuple, pour le frapper! | Davide disse a DIO: Non sono forse stato io a ordinare il censimento del popolo? Sono stato io a peccare e a fare il male, ma costoro, il gregge, che cosa hanno fatto? Ti prego, o Eterno, DIO mio, si volga la tua mano contro di me e contro la casa di mio padre, ma non colpisca il tuo popolo con questa calamità. |
| 18 | Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. | Et l'ange de l'Éternel dit à Gad de dire à David, qu'il montât pour dresser un autel à l'Éternel, dans l'aire d'Ornan, le Jébusien. | Allora l'angelo dell'Eterno ordinò a Gad di dire a Davide che Davide salisse ad erigere un altare, all'Eterno nell'aia di Ornan, il Gebuseo. |
| 19 | And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the LORD. | David monta donc, selon la parole que Gad avait dite au nom de l'Éternel. | Così Davide salì secondo la parola che Gad aveva pronunziato nel nome dell'Eterno. |
| 20 | And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. | 22 | Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people. | Alors David dit à Ornan: Donne-moi la place de cette aire, et j'y bâtirai un autel à l'Éternel; donne-la-moi pour le prix qu'elle vaut, afin que cette plaie soit arrêtée de dessus le peuple. | Allora Davide disse a Ornan: Cedimi l'area dell'aia, perché vi costruisca un altare all'Eterno; cedimelo per tutto il suo valore, affinché la calamità cessi di infierire sul popolo. |
| 23 | And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all. | Mais Ornan dit à David: Prends-la, et que le roi mon seigneur fasse ce qui lui semblera bon. | 24 | And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost. | Le roi David dit à Ornan: Non, mais je veux l'acheter ce que cela vaut; car je ne présenterai point à l'Éternel ce qui est à toi, et je n'offrirai point un holocauste qui ne me coûte rien. | Ma il re Davide disse a Ornan: No! | 25 | So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight. | David donna donc à Ornan pour cette place, en sicles d'or, le poids de six cents sicles. | Così Davide diede a Ornan come prezzo del terreno il peso di seicento sicli, d'oro. |
