| 10 | Ce sont ici les principaux des hommes forts que David avait, qui se portèrent vaillamment avec lui, et avec tout Israël, pour son Royaume, afin de le faire régner suivant la parole de l'Eternel touchant Israël. | Voici les chefs des héros qui étaient au service de David, et qui, avec tout Israël, l'aidèrent pendant son règne, après avoir contribué à le faire roi, selon la parole de Yahweh au sujet d'Israël. | Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of Jehovah concerning Israel. |

Il y avait là une pièce de terre pleine d'orge, et le peuple fuyait devant les Philistins. | He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines. |
| 14 | Et eux s'arrêtèrent au milieu de cette partie du champ, et la garantirent, et battirent les Philistins. Ainsi l'Eternel accorda une grande délivrance. | Ils se placèrent au milieu du champ, le défendirent et battirent les Philistins; et Yahweh opéra une grande délivrance. | And they stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and slew the Philistines; and Jehovah saved them by a great victory. |

| 18 | Alors ces trois hommes passèrent tout au travers du camp des Philistins, et puisèrent de l'eau du puits qui était à la porte de Bethléhem; et l'ayant apportée, la présentèrent à David, qui n'en voulut point boire, mais la répandit à l'honneur de l'Eternel. | Aussitôt les trois hommes, passant au travers du camp des Philistins, puisèrent de l'eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléem. Ils la prirent et l'apportèrent à David; mais David ne voulut pas la boire, et il en fit une libation à Yahweh, en disant : | And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto Jehovah, |

Boirais-je le sang de ces hommes qui ont fait un tel voyage au péril de leur vie; car ils m'ont apporté cette eau au péril de leur vie; ainsi il n'en voulut point boire. Ces trois vaillants hommes firent cette action-là. | "Que mon Dieu me garde de faire cela! Boirais-je le sang de ces hommes avec leur vie ? Car c'est au péril de leur vie qu'ils l'ont apportée."Et il ne voulut pas la boire. Voilà ce que firent ces trois braves. | and said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with [the jeopardy of] their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men. |
